Role: Marketing Communication Assistance
The Center for Smart Streetscapes (CS3) is a National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center taking a unique approach to streetscape research by uniting community members, researchers, students, government officials, and industry partners.
CS3 is a research-based network comprising Columbia University, Florida Atlantic University, Lehman College, Rutgers University, and the University of Central Florida.
At CS3, part of the ongoing research involves engineers and postdoctoral fellows adapting AI technology to improve real-life policy-making.
As a Communications Assistant, I primarily supported the team by creating written and visual content for marketing assets such as email campaigns and social media posts. These materials were designed to educate the public about how CS3 works to improve traffic infrastructure in New York City neighborhoods.
Because the subject matter is highly specific and requires knowledge of city planning and traffic systems, our marketing team focused on translating complex information into a more accessible, user-friendly tone for a general audience.
One of CS3’s active programs involves holding series of workshops for both industry researchers and local residents, particularly in Harlem. These workshops included a series of interactive learning and sharing activities. I assisted with event setup, greeted attendees at the entrance, and provided way-finding support throughout the space.
